Grand marshal

Jean Watson

Jean Watson has been a member of the Dublin community for more than thirty years.  She has been married to Jerry Watson for 36 years.  They have five children:  Sondra, Cindy, Joey, David and Cara; and three grandchildren: Natalie, Charlotte and Ben.  In addition, Jean and Jerry have been foster parents to a number of children.

Since the 1970's, Mrs. Watson has participated in Dublin Elementary School activities and projects.  During the 1998-99 school year, she volunteered over 400 ours at Dublin Elementary; she is well on her way to reaching that level again this year.  Other activities include involvement with the math climber program, patriot program, production pool and Santa workshop.  Also, Mrs. Watson serves as a music aid and a library aid.

Several years ago, when some books from the school library were to be removed from circulation and destroyed, Mrs. Watson assisted with a project that recycled the books to the students and teachers.  By marking out the school property stamp, the books could be sold during the book fair for a nominal fee to children and teachers who cherished a particular story or wanted a school keepsake.

Mrs. Watson also helps as North Harford High School. - there she is the editor of the North Harford High School newsletter.

Beyond school volunteerism, Mrs. Watson fills leadership roles in the church. At Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Mrs. Watson serves as Sunday school superintendent, director of the children's choir, vacation Bible school leader and teacher.  In addition, she devotes one day a month to visiting the elderly.

Truly, Mrs. Watson exemplifies her commitment to giving through all of her volunteer work. Her selfless sharing enriches the lives she touches and contributes significantly to the community.

Thank you Mrs. Watson.  Congratulations Dublin Country Fair and Parade Grand marshal for 2000.
