2003

Grand marshal

Earl Lee

Earl and Frances Lee reside in Street and have four wonderful children.  Earl has been very active in the local community and in Harford County for a number of years.  His goal has been to enhance the quality of life for the youth and others by involving them in sports and meaningful activities.

Earl is a man of action, not words.  While others talk about needs, he works to fill the gaps.  For 35 years, he has chaired, coached, or served as an assistant coach for the Dublin-Darlington (formally Dublin) Recreation Council.  He began coaching when his children were players and has continued his efforts with a program that now includes his grandchildren, the sons and daughters of youth he once coached, and a staff of coaches who once played under his tutelage.

He has also coached recreation softball teams, participates as a Senior Olympian in bowling, softball, basketball, and track, and is a league bowler.  He has worked with ex-offenders, aiding them with transition and re-adjustment to society as contributing members.  He sings in the Men's choir of John Wesley United Methodist Church and aids with numerous other projects in Harford County.

Earl does not seek attention.  He is a humble man, content to do what he can when he can, to make things better for his family, friends and neighbors.

So it is for these reasons that we are honored to name Lester Earl Lee the 2003 Grand marshal of Dublin Country Fair.

Congratulations Earl and keep up the good work.  We all appreciate it!!
